On the front lawn,
handsome Paralympians place their medals 
around the necks of children.
Perfectly ironed polos in gum leaf and wattle bloom
sit square on their shoulders
awkward with unaccustomed inactivity.

Here as celebrities, not sportsmen
they are polite fish out of water.
